2013 Trek Speed Concept 7.5

Miles ahead of other bikes in its class, against the clock, and out on the road, Trek's Speed Concept 7.5 is all about optimum aerodynamics and serious speed. Its full-carbon frame uses unique Kammtail shapes that cheat the wind even when it's coming from the side and provide excellent pedaling efficiency for maximum efficiency whether you go short or long. Other aero tricks include hidden brakes, cables and a computer sensor that's built into the frame. Even the wheel quick releases hide from the wind, while the Bontrager tires do their part optimizing airflow past the aero wheels. This clock-beater boasts a proven Shimano Ultegra/Dura-Ace parts group for pro-level braking and shifting and light, aero Bontrager wheels for more free speed.

    Comments:

There are many TT bikes out there. The combination of a supreme frame nicely build and the aerodynamics, gear set, wheels and the combination of "building and adjusting" your TT bike as you want for an acceptable price (for me)makes the concept 7.5 unique. I bought mine when there was a sales offer late 2014. A pitty that your choice of colour makes the TT bike extremely more expensive so I stayed with the black one.

      Comments:

So I delayed submitting my review until I had a chance to really ride this bike in a competitive environment and I have now had an opportunity to use in an Olympic Triathlon through the undulating roads of Wales and a Half Ironman distance Triathlon in Nottingham England. I have got to say this bike handled both of these events phonemically well. in Wales the 51km/32mile cycle leg involved steep climbs and descents. The Speed Concept instills confidence and allows you to concentrate on the job in hand maximising the bikes design to speed your way down hill. Hit the flat and you are able to maintain that speed with its compact design and stiff frame. The delivery of power to the rear wheel is effortless. On the longer Half Ironman distance Triathlon (90km/56mile) cycle leg I had an opportunity to spend some real time in the saddle and, despite being in the aero position for the part of 3 hours (it was a reasonably flat course), I found the bike to be surprisingly comfortable allowing you to maintain a good, steady cadence and power delivery. Leaving me reasonably fresh as I commenced the run leg. I suspect that my experience on the bike is, in no small part, due to the initial setting up on the bike which was under professionally. However you can take nothing away from the bike. Indeed the setting up brings another major plus, the adjustability of the Speed Concept which makes this bike practically made to measure. The ease with which you can get the set up "just right" is staggering. A truly awesome machine which I would highly recommend. OK, I clearly upgraded the wheels, but everything else is standard.

        Comments:

Good on flats and cross winds. The bike itself is quite heavy compare to its competitor brands and hard to assemble. Plastic fairings can easily break and bolts get loosen once a few rigid ride. I hope that they can develop a one piece type of stem like the Shimano PRO.

        Comments:

Being a triathlete who is always looking for a competitive edge and keeps an eye on the podium at all races, this bike is the key. Whether you want to get as aero as possible in a deep aggressive position or if you are the rider who looks for a more friendly position, this bike has all the different spectrums you are looking for. It's fast, responsive, stiff, and fantastic to ride. The only fall back is you may need to brush up on your bike maintenance skills cause this thing is no joke. Trek did everything right with the 2014 Speed Concept.

Such a great machine, bought it for my first ironman for next year, it's simply so smooth, fast and as aerodynamic as it gets, the only disappointment was that the standard version does not come with at least the Aura 5 wheel like last years version.

I bought this bike for sprint/olympic distance Tri racing. In the future I plan on doing half/full ironman. I'm am tall 6'4" and I bought an XL frame. It would be nice if Trek had the option for a longer seat post. I had to go with an aftermarket seat to go above 86.6 seat height. I also had to change the bontrager clip-on's with profile design to get a wider fit on the areo bars. Other than some fit issues for tall people it seems to be a solid bike.

                Comments:

I race about 10 triathlons a year (mostly 70.3's and full irons) and had a aluminum/ carbon fork/seatpost tri bike. But I wanted to get faster so with the help of my LBS which did an awesome bike fit and knows my riding style we decided on the 7.5. My first ride I knew I was on a special bike- it just kept accelerating. The fit is perfect and the bike is so solid- you can really tell the difference between an aluminum frame and carbon. In my first race on the bike (a VERY hilly 70.3 Tri, I was about 5 minutes faster than my previous bike PR (and there was over 3500 feet of climbing on wet roads (so descending was slow). And when I hit the run I felt stronger- and ran 3 minutes faster than my previous PR. So is this a good bike- nope, it is a GREAT bike. I highly recommend talking to your local shop about getting on a Trek Speed Concept!

I picked my speed concept up last night when I saw it all I could do was jump up and down and roll on the floor because it is an awesome piece of equipment. I am recovering from an achellies rupture and I bought this to inspire me to get back in shape. I flew home from the bike store in order to take it out for a ride. I was like a kid in the candy store. I asked my husband to come look at me as I flew by! This bike is effortless!! Julie watch out I am on your left!!
